Learn the fundamental Hip Hop moves including basic body isolations, precision, performance quality and choreography. Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. Hip Hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Hip Hop dance requires students to have the strength and stamina. Therefore, class includes upper and lower body conditioning as well as a rigorous warm-up to help prepare students for more intense movements.
The Boys Only Hip Hop class is designed to allow boys to begin exploring the fundamentals of hip hop dance as an art. Open to all levels of dance experience and ability, this class focus on dance technique and choreography. Performance opportunities allow for the development of individual ideas increasing confidence and team work. Participants focus on increasing strength, fitness, and flexibility as well as exploring musicality and space. Have fun and learn the latest hip hop moves in an age appropriate, fun and challenging format... just for boys!
Class Dress Requirements: Female students should wear any color leotard along with leggings, capris, dance shorts, yoga pants, or loose bottoms such as sweats. Preferably long bottoms rather than shorts. A T-Shirt or a tighter/flexible tank top is allowed over the leotard. Hair MUST be pulled back in ponytail, braid or bun.
Male students should wear something comfortable to move in that you don’t mind getting sweaty. Sweatpants or other loose-fitting athletic pants and a tank top or t-shirt are the usual attire for hip-hop class. If it's cold, wear a sweatshirt or some type of layer to make sure you get warmed up in class; this helps prevent injury.
Black dance sneakers/boots (hip-hop shoes) or NEW non-marking athletic sneakers used for dance ONLY are required for all hip-hop classes. No street shoes permitted in the dance room.
Performance Requirements: Students will be required to purchase a costume for our Showcase production. All students will participate in the Showcase finale as well. Costume fees are due no later than October 15, 2021. Costume fee information can be found in the online registration portal. Additional performance opportunities could be available throughout the season.
Showcase Fee: 3D Centre of the Arts, LLC will present its annual Showcase in May/June 2022. This showcase will offer all of our 3DCA students the opportunity to perform in a professionally directed production and showcase the results of a year’s hard work, dedication, and progress. The date and location for the Showcase will be announced in the fall of 2021.
Showcase Fees are required of all 3DCA students and are due no later than November 19, 2021. The fee for this season is $50.00 per dancer. The Showcase Fee helps to cover the venue rental, sound, lighting, and security expenses related to the production. Showcase Fees are NON-REFUNDABLE once paid.
